Successful Leaders Make 4 Things Priority to Build Strong Teams

Record number of people started new businesses over the past several years. Job market uncertainty At a time when uncertainty has forced people to finally confront the fear of moving on from dead-end jobs.

Watching weak leaders stumble through the Pandemic compelled many people to finally accept that mediocrity in high places isn’t reassuring when your livelihood is contingent upon clarity.

On the other hand, some companies did a remarkable job engineering positive change and extracting insight from their most valuable resources, people.

Leaders that had the humility to appreciate that their people might have the answers to challenging questions encouraged unity that made good companies better.

According to Gallup Data, 15% of all employees are disengaged.

Meeting more may seem like leading, but it isn’t. Successful companies have highly motivated teams that understand execution and operate well without constant oversight.

The best businesses bounce back quickly after uncertainty because they communicate incredibly well and develop strategies that focus on shared vision in a healthy corporate culture that makes provisions for unexpected eventualities.

In addition to staying focused, these companies encourage flexibility and have teams that understand the necessity of adapting to uncertainty with definitive action.

When people have ownership in the outcome of their decisions and understand the implications of their shared responsibilities, success is the only option, and they don’t appreciate incompetent leaders that disrupt their cadence.

So how can leaders improve their ability to develop strong teams that redefine the future?

"The most difficult thing is the decision to act; the rest is mainly tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do."

--AMELIA EARHART

SUCCESSFUL LEADERS MAKE 4 THINGS PRIORITY TO BUILD STRONG TEAMS:

01. PERSPECTIVE

Having great vision and being able to focus is incredibly important. However, being able to adjust and make quick decisions is equally vital. When we truly value alternative perspectives, we extract the best ideas that move us in the right direction. Relying on the remarkable insight of our people is often our best defense during difficult times because they have unique perspective that may provoke creative solutions to challenging problems. When we encourage a corporate culture that values all opinions, we create trust, safety, and vulnerability to leaders to valuable insight.

02. RIGHT NOW

Most people are guilty of living in the past and focusing too much on the future. Guess what, many companies make the same mistake. At the same time, distractions keep people from staying focused and being engaged. Great leaders understand how to regulate distractions and keep people focused on the present. Mindfulness is a powerful way to teach our teams to stay in the moment. We need to coach our people in how to be present and ensure we have everyone’s undivided attention when we are committed to solving big problems.

"The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence--it is to act with yesterday's logic."

-- PETER DRUCKER

03. ADAPT

One thing is for sure; change is inevitable. Attrition, setbacks, unexpected challenges, and personality conflicts will emerge. Great companies know how to adapt and make modifications that don’t impact momentum and encourage a growth mindset. Once again, great leaders mentor their teams and teach them valuable tools that help them remain agile during difficult times. When our teams operate with confidence because they understand the long-term vision, they get less flustered when obstacles arise along the journey.

04. ERRATIC

I have the advantage of having a 36-year track record of consistent profits, growth, and success. Not many businesses can say they were profitable since their inception and had profitable years every year since. People learn to trust leaders that meander through the tumultuous times and demonstrate the skills required to succeed. They also learn to appreciate that path is erratic and nonlinear. Many businesses married to business plans create a vision based on big assumptions. Flexible business cultivates a culture that understands the path won’t be straight, but we will reach the mountain top together.
